Buddha at home

Yesterday I finally managed to set up my alter. Some Buddhists don't have keep personal alters, some do, its a personal choice thing. I like having one around. Seeing Buddha sit peacefully, meditating in the candle light reminds me of his teachings, of the four noble truths, the eightfold path.
It's on top of a small bookshelf in my bedroom. Buddha meditates infront of four candles, one for each noble truth. I love it.

Gorgeous altar!!! I too find great solace and peace with an altar. And the dim-lit effect of candles is so relaxing. I have a statue of Buddha (or course) Avalokiteshvara, an incense bowl and a bamboo plant as well on my altar.

BTW, I love the design of your place here. Nice balance between your background color and font. I'm an artist so I really can appreciate this stuff.

Way to go! I have a small altar with a picture of Buddha because I have yet to find one that speaks to me that I can afford at the moment. I know however I will get there! Your altar has clean, elegant and simple lines to it and really speaks to me.
